SUNDAY'S GAME AT HOUSTON: SCOTTSDALE -- A good game on Sunday as the Cubs pounded the Astros 11-6. I was glad to see Roy Oswalt get ejected after plunking Michael Barrett after Aramis Ramirez's home run. Kerry Wood was not throwing at the Astros but probably had to be ejected after hitting two Astros after Barrett got plunked. Kyle Farnsworth continues to be a disaster every time he comes in. Please no more Farnsworth! I think Todd Wellemeyer has to come back to the Cubs before the August 31st deadline.

MEL ROJAS AWARD: SCOTTSDALE -- The Mel Rojas Award for poor performance by a Cubs relief pitcher to LaTroy Hawkins. Hawkins pitched 1/3 of an inning, gave up three hits, two runs, one earned run, and had one intentional walk. Hawkins blew his fifth save attempt and got his fourth loss of the season.

CARLOS LEZCANO AWARD: SCOTTSDALE -- The Carlos Lezcano Award for bad play by a Cubs outfielder to Sammy Sosa. Sosa continued his poor play last night as Sosa went 0 for 4 with 2 strikeouts.

SATURDAY'S GAME AT HOUSTON: SCOTTSDALE -- A frustrating loss by Cubs last night. Losing 2-0 after seven innings, the Cubs scored a run in the eighth. Then the Cubs scored 2 in the top of the ninth to take a 3-2 lead but LaTroy Hawkins and Jose Macias gave the game away in the bottom of the ninth to cost us the game. Hawkins gave up three hits and Macias threw the ball away on a bunt. For some odd reason Dusty Baker has faith in Hawkins despite his often shaky outings.
