BORAS THE BORE: Bill Madden has a good column in today's New York Daily News about what an overrated agent Scott Boras is. It is amazing so many of his clients still listen to him after all the blunders he has made. Either Boras is getting contracts for his clients for less than they could have gotten and/or having them wind up with teams they do not want to play for.
Does anyone think Ivan Rodriguez wants to go to Detroit? Rodriguez could have stayed at home in Florida for less money but instead will get $10 million instead of $8 million to spend the next few years losing 90-100 games a year in beautiful downtown Detroit. Boras on the other hand gets a bigger slice of money from Rodriguez's deal with Detroit than he would have from Florida.
You have to wonder when some of Boras's clients are going to figure out the figures are not all rosy with Boras as their agent.
