FRIDAY'S GAME VS. LOS ANGELES: The Cubs came into play on Friday 1/2 game out of first place in the National League Central. After the Cubs defeated Los Angeles in the afternoon, the Cubs were in a three way tie for first with Houston and St. Louis. By the end of the day the Cubs were in first all by themselves as Houston and St. Louis both lost. For the Cubs, Mark Prior was outstanding again on Friday for the Cubs. Prior went the distance in a 2-1 win for the Cubs giving up seven hits, one earned run, while allowing no walks and striking out five Dodgers. Sammy Sosa went three for four and drove in both runs for the Cubs. Meanwhile, Hee Seop Choi continued to struggle going 0 for 4, striking out 3 times, and left 5 runners on base.

SORRY: Sorry I have not gotten around to blogging about the red hot Chicago Cubs. Great work by the Cubs winning 3 of 4 from the Houston Astros. The Cubs are now only 1/2 game out of first behind Houston and St. Louis.
THURSDAY'S GAME VS. HOUSTON: A very impressive performance by the Cubs on Thursday in a 7-1 win over the Astros. Matt Clement pitched well, as did the bullpen. Alex Gonzalez who had been struggling before sitting for a few games continued to be hot hitting a two-run home run.
CHIPMUNK: In the bottom of the eighth with the Cubs leading 7-1 Chip said, "I am really surprised to see Joe Borowski still throwing up in the Cubs bullpen." Thank you Jerry Coleman.
