FRIDAY'S GAME VS. ST. LOUIS: Truly pathetic performance by the Cubs' pitching staff on Friday. Kerry Wood was awful (3 IP, 7 earned runs). Dave Veres and Kyle Farnsworth were ok but then we got another disgusting performance by Antonio Alfonseca then Joe Borowski was off as well. Lenny Harris (why on earth does Baker play him?) came into the game late but in time to go 0 for 2 with 2 errors. On the bright side, Moises Alou had 3 homeruns, Eric Karros, and Sammy Sosa also homered for the Cubs. In the end it was not enough as the Cardinals won 11-8.
RUDY MEOLI AWARD: The Rudy Meoli Award for worst performance by a Cubs infielder to Lenny Harris. Harris went 0 for 2 (1 strikeout), and made 2 errors.
MEL ROJAS AWARD: The Mel Rojas Award for poor performance by a Cubs relief pitcher to Antonio Alfonseca. Alfonseca pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up 3 hits and 2 earned runs.
