FRIDAY'S GAME AT PITTSBURGH: The Cubs beat up a rather bad Pittsburgh club last night 11-6. Todd Walker continues to show the Cubs management were wrong to try to trade him in the off-season, going 4 for 5 last night and is now hitting .480. Matt Murton seems to be coming alive, going 2 for 5 with 3 RBI. Ronny Cedeno has improved the Cubs just by his defense alone, then throw in the fact he is hitting and you got a real plus with him. Sean Marshall looked ok in his second start but did have a few trouble spots.

MEL ROJAS AWARD: The Mel Rojas Award for bad relief pitching to Michael Wuertz. Wuertz came into the game in the bottom of the 6th inning with the Cubs up 8-3, a runner on first for the Pirates, and no outs. Wuertz gave up a two-run home run, followed by a solo home run, then an infield single. Wuertz pitched zero innings, gave up three hits (two home runs), and two earned runs.

TUESDAY'S GAME VS. CINCINNATI: After a weekend sweep of the Cardinals, the Cubs played down the competition on Tuesday getting thumped 9-2 by the Reds. The Cubs gave up six home runs and hit only one with the wind blowing out. A truly awful game. The Cubs bad play and Kasper the Boring Ghost's dull announcing helped me take a brief snooze during the game. Unfortunately, I saw all the bad stuff.

MEL ROJAS AWARD: The Mel Rojas Award for bad relief pitching to Will Ohman pitched zero innings gave up four hits (one grand slam home run, one solo home run), one walk, five runs all were earned.
